happybunch family
Three years, that’s how long Happy Bunch has been around. For some, it may seem like a lifetime. For others, a blink of an eye. For us, it’s a bit of both. On one hand, we’ve done so much in the last 3 years, it feels like we’ve been doing it forever. On the other, we’ve had so much fun that it feels like an eye blink. Okay, maybe we’re exaggerating. It hasn’t always been fun.

We’re not sure how we got ourselves into the startup scene. We’re from corporate backgrounds and subsequently small business owners. Guess the timing was right and we went for it. We were told we were Double A entrepreneurs, i.e., had significant corporate experience, ran our own businesses and so we were quite bankable. What rubbish. We hustle like everyone else, but we never expected anything less. The learning curve is crazy steep, not knowing all the tech lingo and its community. We embraced learning like we were children, with awe & wonder.

It takes a family to raise a child. And our child is Happy Bunch. We’ve given birth to her (Yes, it’s a girl!) but we couldn’t have done it without the support of our family who has helped to nurture her, love her like she’s their own to raise her well. That family is our Happy Bunch team, our partners and our customers. We are so grateful our baby is growing up with so much love all around.

And now, here we are.

Our baby is ready to transform (see the butterfly in our initials?). She is about to take flight. She is classy, self-assured and downright stunning. She is confident and she knows it’s her time. That’s our baby – our brand. She is positioned for that next phase – the growth.

We haven’t stopped running in the last 3 years. One of our biggest challenges has really been about working super well with each other. We strive to bring our absolute strengths and best to the business, as well as constantly shattering our own glass ceilings. Everyday feels like a race to the finish line, but we know it’s not about the destination – it’s about the journey. We are savouring that journey, every single step of the way.

One of the key highlights was our trip to Silicon Valley. We are forever indebted to the support MaGIC has given us when we were such newbies to the whole ecosystem. We’ve also decided, after a year of deliberation, that we will go down the funding route. We’ve received the CIP500 grant from Cradle and we’ve welcomed our new partners, Intres Capital Partners (fund manager of ADIF) as our new investors. While it wasn’t an easy decision, we’re confident this partnership will help our baby soar.

We may look very different now, but our heart is still the same. Our mission remains – to make it simple for anyone to send flowers and delightful for anyone to receive them. That will never change. We are dedicated to serving each of you in the best and most genuine way we possibly can.

For all who’ve been on this journey with us from the start, or those who’ve joined us recently, we are thrilled you’re on this with us. Grab a coffee, hold on tight, it’s going to be quite a ride.

Thank you – every single one of you who have made these 3 years so remarkable. You have made the last 1095 days meaningful for us. We look forward to the next 1095 days.

Love,
Lee Yen & Jo
